My Story
Hi, I'm Charlotte Baker and I have worked within Student Unions' and higher education since 2020. My journey began as a part time member of student staff as the Student Voice Assistant in smaller institution. From the beginning of my HE journey I was leading on student representation training, feedback gathering and reporting and celebrating success. I then became a part time officer and later was President of Winchester Student Union from 2022 - 2024.
As President I focused on equality & diversity work, cost of living and sustainability. Alongside my time a President I was invited to work with numerous HE partners such as JISC, QAA and Coole Insight. I particularly enjoyed my time as a member of the student strategic advisory committee for the QAA, a fantastic opportunity to explore wider education culture and work with colleagues around the country to further improve and provide a student opinion on quality of education.
Currently I am a staff member in the student movement as Representation Coordinator at Imperial College Union, working with our student representatives and facilitating our democratic functions. I am so excited to be joining the Coole Insight team officially, having worked with them a few times over the last year. I will always be grateful I met them as an officer and benefitted from their programme myself to now being able to give back to officers and student unions as one of their associates. I look forward to our continued and future work together.
