My Story
I’m Chief Executive of Queen Margaret University Students’ Union in Edinburgh, but
my SU journey started behind a student bar. From there, I became a Course Rep,
Faculty Rep and then a Sabbatical Officer for two years, where I was closely
involved in a significant organisational turnaround.
That experience has shaped how I lead today. I’ve seen students’ unions from the
frontline, through elected representation and now from senior leadership, and I’m
particularly interested in what makes organisations work well in practice; strong
relationships, clear strategy, good governance and confident leadership.
I’m a strong believer in elected student leadership and in the partnership between
officers and senior staff. My work focuses on strategy, governance, organisational
development, culture, student representation, equality, diversity and inclusion, and
the thoughtful and appropriate use of emerging technologies to help organisations
work more effectively.
My approach is practical and people-centred: I like asking useful questions, cutting
through complexity and helping organisations turn ambition into action.
